The Fiery Priest

The Fiery Priest turned out to be such a pleasant surprise. In fact a rare thing happened while I was watching it today, I laughed so much that tears came from my eyes. Ok this drama also made me shed a few tears but it is mainly action comedy and I loved every bit of it. The cast, the script, the cinematography, art direction, everything worked. I did not like the female lead at first with her obvious plastic surgery but I was totally loving her by the second episode. She was great in this as was everyone else. There is no romance in this one. The main lead is a Catholic priest and despite the two female characters admiring his obvious good looks, they never really go after him for romance. And our fiery priest has some major issues never even comes close to look at a female that way. Despite that I loved it. I'm looking forward to the new adventures of our Priest at another locale reforming its inhabitants.

Only Pleasure

Only Pleasure turned out to be a weak mystery but very good erotica.

Circe

Circe turned out to be an amazing read and the audible version is very very good. I liked it even more than The Song of Achilles.

Renegade

Renegade was a book I purchased very cheaply at a secondhand book fair and it turned to be as ridiculous as I thought it would be but the intimate scenes were good so I immediately started to read another, steamier novel by the same author.

Jigsaw

Jigsaw was neither scary nor exciting but I didn't DNF it so maybe it was not totally awful.

Hichki

Hichki serves some of my kinks, teacher helps smart but financially poor kids to get educated, kids finding hope and understanding with their teacher and improve, Rani Mukherjee (although she may not be a pleasant person in real life I really like her on screen), heavy dose of melodrama etc. Tears flowed

King Lear

King Lear well this adaptation is a delight to watch. And the great performances by EVERYONE is amazing. Not a single weak link from the actors with one line to the ones with lead roles. I liked this very much.

Season of The Witch

Season of The Witch turned out to be an average film, I actually dosed off for a few minutes during the final fight scene.

Wok of Love

Wok of Love (direct translation Oily Melo) I really liked it. Ok I have a weakness for Jang Hyuk and usually enjoy the dramas he is in even though they are not so good sometimes but I would have liked it even without JH. I liked the male lead Jun Ho and the female lead Jung Rye Won.

It has obvious flaws like female villain suddenly dropping off the plot after three episodes and some odd editing.

Something I don't understand is how is this thing more than 20 episodes in imdb and only 19 on Netflix.

I'm Thinking Of Ending Things

I'm Thinking of Ending Things turned out to be a decent horror novel that kind of lost me at the end. The first parts were very scary though.

To Ride Hell's Chasm

To Ride Hell's Chasm turned out to be a good type of novel where you didn't really care for at first but somehow stick to it and then it rewards to towards the end. Yep, I ended up silent crying at the end and am so happy that I did not dnf it.

All The Missing Girls

All The Missing Girls well it is a good book but I did not have a pleasant experience most probably due to my listening to it in a lot of breaks in between. The novel has a non linear story telling and it didn't help, also I saw the twist early on.

Giri/Haji

Giri/Haji  I really liked this drama. Firstly the cinematography and art direction appealed to me in their uncluttered way, secondly the actors were really good and thirdly I liked the whole artsy feel of it. The story was not that interesting but the performances were very good and the show flowed nicely. I also thought that the lead actor Hira Takehiro is very hot in this.

Ghost Stories (2019)

Ghost Stories turned out to be decent anthology of four directors showing their own styles. My favorite was Zoya Akhtar's and I liked Karan Johar's too. I don't even remember Anurag Kashyap's.

Reply 1988

Reply 1988  it was one of those heartwarming, tear jerking dramas and I loved it. I especially loved and rooted for the character above. It ended up being a bit stretched but not much to cloud the rest.

Atiye

Atiye turned out to be a mediocre affair. I like Beren Saat and Mehmet Günsür is so attractive. Other than that there is not much going on mystery and action wise.

Booksmart

Booksmart ended up being pretty entertaining and it is good that girls can do the same story equally as good as boys :)

Gemini Man

Gemini Man turned out to be just meh, despite the good cast and story. Did Ang Lee lose his mojo?

Pain And Glory

Pain And Glory well I like Almodovar films (I think I have seen them all) and this is a rather good one made by a good film maker at his maturity. It felt and probably is a very personal film with a top notch Antonio Banderas performance. I loved it

Animals

Animals an impulse buy at the Auckland airport turned out to be a very good one. I liked the prose, the story and the main character's arc throughout. I'll seek more novels from this author.

Parasite

Parasite yep I watched it a second time on the plane from Sydney to Singapore and loved it yet again.

It Chapter Two

It Chapter Two was not very good, sadly. There was only one scary scene and the rest was a bore.

The Gift

The Gift turned out to be meh, a bit lower than that even. It fell flat for me.

Bite

Bite to me was the weakest Laymon novel I have read so far. The weird thing is that I marked this one as "read" on goodreads and I have no recollection of reading it before.

Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabbit turned out to be one of those films where you laugh and cry at the same time, the type that stays with you long after viewing. It was seriously good.

Indelible

Indelible yep Karin Slaughter has yet to disappoint me. I have thoroughly enjoyed this novel.

Rocketman

Rocketman I knew I would not hate this film. Firstly I love Elton John, secondly I like Taron Edgerton and I thought it would be bearable. And I liked it more than I thought I would. The performances were brilliant and the whole thing felt sincere. It has a heart and it is beating too.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum  well I usually have a problem with sequels, very few exceptions are Terminator 2 and Aliens (yep I like The Godfather a lot better than 2). If it is the third film, it gets weaker for me for some reason. One notable exception is Die Hard 3, mind you, I still like the originals better but love the above mentioned sequels also very much. This is not the case with John Wick. I was very pleasantly surprised by the first film and the next one was entertaining, and this one was entertaining too but I still like the first the best. Keanu Reeves is good anytime though (he was the one I fell for in that generation of stars).

The Long Shot

The Long Shot turned out to be a delightful rom com.  I love the genre and Seth Rogan was thankfully and surprisingly good. Also thank you Singapore Airlines for not cutting any of the films.

Once Upon A Time ...in Hollywood

Once Upon A Time ...in Hollywood  well, I didn't hate it, I didn't find it boring, I was riveted from the beginning to the end but I still do not consider this one of the best in the director's filmography.

Simmba

Simmba is a film I have been wanting to see but was not able to due to its not being included in the legal platforms I'm member to. And here I was going to Singapore and chose this to be the first film I picked out in the very fine selection provided by Singapore Airlines. Well it was ok I suppose but I probably would have dnfed it if not for Ranveer Singh.
