Booksmart

Booksmart ended up being pretty entertaining and it is good that girls can do the same story equally as good as boys :)

Gemini Man

Gemini Man turned out to be just meh, despite the good cast and story. Did Ang Lee lose his mojo?

Pain And Glory

Pain And Glory well I like Almodovar films (I think I have seen them all) and this is a rather good one made by a good film maker at his maturity. It felt and probably is a very personal film with a top notch Antonio Banderas performance. I loved it

Parasite

Parasite yep I watched it a second time on the plane from Sydney to Singapore and loved it yet again.

It Chapter Two

It Chapter Two was not very good, sadly. There was only one scary scene and the rest was a bore.

Rocketman

Rocketman I knew I would not hate this film. Firstly I love Elton John, secondly I like Taron Edgerton and I thought it would be bearable. And I liked it more than I thought I would. The performances were brilliant and the whole thing felt sincere. It has a heart and it is beating too.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum  well I usually have a problem with sequels, very few exceptions are Terminator 2 and Aliens (yep I like The Godfather a lot better than 2). If it is the third film, it gets weaker for me for some reason. One notable exception is Die Hard 3, mind you, I still like the originals better but love the above mentioned sequels also very much. This is not the case with John Wick. I was very pleasantly surprised by the first film and the next one was entertaining, and this one was entertaining too but I still like the first the best. Keanu Reeves is good anytime though (he was the one I fell for in that generation of stars).

The Long Shot

The Long Shot turned out to be a delightful rom com.  I love the genre and Seth Rogan was thankfully and surprisingly good. Also thank you Singapore Airlines for not cutting any of the films.

Once Upon A Time ...in Hollywood

Once Upon A Time ...in Hollywood  well, I didn't hate it, I didn't find it boring, I was riveted from the beginning to the end but I still do not consider this one of the best in the director's filmography.

Simmba

Simmba is a film I have been wanting to see but was not able to due to its not being included in the legal platforms I'm member to. And here I was going to Singapore and chose this to be the first film I picked out in the very fine selection provided by Singapore Airlines. Well it was ok I suppose but I probably would have dnfed it if not for Ranveer Singh.

Venom

Venom turned out to be two parter in flight film I had started returning from Japan (? not really sure and I love the fact that I'm not really sure) and finished the remaining on the return flight from Northern Cypruss. It didn't leave an impression except liking Tom Hardy.

Destination Wedding

Destination Wedding is a film that would appeal to people who are born in the 70s. Two of the hottest stars of that generation looking good without obvious plastic, play two unlikable characters who fall in love in the course of two days during the destination wedding of the title. It is not a masterpiece one shouldn't miss but if you are of my generation and liked cinema then you'll get some enjoyment out of looking at the actor and actress.

A Simple Favor

A Simple Favor turned out to be not that much of a bore but then again I like Blake Lively and think her not a bad actress. Anna Kendrick on the other hand is a different matter. For some reason I can't warm up to her. Anyway this story turned out to be a not so good one and the twist not very effective. I'm glad I didn't get the novel. I like the French songs and they got to my head.

Leave No Trace

Leave No Trace is a film that only came to my radar when I heard that the director (Ms. Debra Granik) who directed a fave of mine Winter's Bone. And this film is just as good maybe even better. This lady knows how to tell a story on film and she is very good at getting great performances out of her actors. I first watched Jennifer Lawrence in Winter's Bone and so far that is still her best performance in my opinion. Mr. Ben Foster came to my attention when I watched Hell or High Water. This actor has an unassuming on screen presence but he is such a good actor that I'm ashamed of not recognising his talent sooner. He is so good in this film. He doesn't have much dialogue (the film shows not tells) and his peformance is so deep that I actually forgot he is an actor. What a gem. The rest of the cast are all good too and this film left me in silent tears that keep on flowing. Highly recommended.

The Greatest Showman

The Greatest Showman well I was under the mistaken impression that this film has something to do with Baz Luhrman (whose films I love) however it turned out to be different sort of film without the manic energy but not as exciting and emotional. The songs were good and I enjoyed it a lot despite the fact that none of the actors are my favorites (I love Hugh Jackman's entertainment persona but I don't get the attraction whenever he is not Wolverine)

Isle of Dogs

Isle of Dogs amazing film. I love Wes Anderson (whose every film I have watched and liked). This one is against fascism and its not so subtle ways of obtaining power. Not only the animation was amazing but the voice actors are all great. Highly recommended.

Keys To The Heart

Keys To The Heart I almost didn't choose to watch because I kind of do not like Lee Byung Hun in Mr. Sunshine. But then I clicked on it and I'm glad that I did because it turned out to be the type of shameless melodrama that makes me cry rivers (and I did). Superbly acted by everyone in the cast it definitely made me happy.

All The Money In The World

All The Money In The World is a film I have watched and completed it three different time periods. And the last section was the longest and surprisingly I have enjoyed it very much. But then again I like Ridley Scott films.

Detroit

Detroit tells a horrible story and sadly not that well, it deserved a better film.

Ready Player One

Ready Player One turned out to be a not so good film. It is different from the novel in a not so good way. The book however is great and I highly recommend reading it, instead of watching this film.
