Secret In Their Eyes

Secret In Their Eyes is a remake of that very good Argentinian film. And I'll have to say, despite the very good performances skip this film. Go and watch the original, which is very good.

Florence Foster Jenkins
Florence Foster Jenkins tells the story of a New York heiress and patron of musical arts who wants to sing but has a terrible voice. This woman has records and gives a concert at Carnegie Music Hall. And kudos to director Stephen Frears and Merly Streep that it ends up being a touching story of damaged human beings. I actually cried during this. Meryl Streep is an amazing actress. Her voice normally is very very good (as evident in Mamma Mia) but she makes it sound really bad (oh you should hear her character sing Queen of The Night aria from Mozart's Magic Flute) and Hugh Grant is also very good in the type of role he usually plays. This is recommended.

Dressed To Kill
Dressed To Kill turned out to be interesting camera work and mise en scene however seemed predictable and female body obssesed (though to be fair, this is in line with the plot). I had fallen asleep and had to watch the other half the next day. All in all I'm glad I watched it but not plan on doing so again.

Anger Management

Anger Management turned out to just the same the second time. I like Adam Sandler and his formula inexplicably.
Storm Front
Storm Front has a great premise and had the potential to be interesting and fun. However the storytelling didn't really work for me. The plot holes were rather large and the AU was scattered (like an untidy room full of knick knacks). And to top these off the reader was sighing (on purpose I guess) all the time and it just annoyed me after a while. I don't plan on continuing these series.

Man to Man
Man to Man first and foremost was a great viewing experience in the fact that finally, I got to watch a Korean drama same time with other viewers all around the world. The drama itself is not bad either, not my favorite leads nor my favorite plot but there were fun times and it ended unexpectedly for the secondary characters at least. I liked it a lot.

Master of None Season 2
Master of None Season 2 is even better than Season 1. The cinematography is more artsy (throwback to Italian cinema, and even though I don't really like the country's cinematic offerings, I loved the homage to them in this show). I also love the fact that the lead man is not caucasian or black and that he does not hammer our heads with his enthicity but doesn't deny it either. I just love the whole thing. Definitely recommended, start with the first season.
Eyvah Eyvah 3

Eyvah Eyvah 3 yine bir oruç kafa ile eğleneceğimi düşünerek takıldım. Yanılmadım. İlk izlediğimde bu kadar sevmemiştim. Bu sefer daha bir hoşuma gitti sanki.
Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban
Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban is my favorite Harry Potter novel and film. The reasons for the novel I'll not explain but the film is obviously due to excellent direction. I love the dark tones and the way everyone acts better in this one. And Gary Oldman is really inspired casting as Sirius Black, one of my fave characters in the books.
Mea Culpa
Mea Culpa is a film I had recorded in the festival channel long ago based on the plot summary. It really surprised me as a very good action film with three impressive action scenes and a decent story too. I also like how actors look like real people in European films. These cops look old and worn out as they would be in real life.
La La Land
La La Land divided many of the critics and film lovers in my twitter time line. It never occurred me that I'd be in the loving camp. I don't like musicals, I don't like instrumental jazz and I don't like Emma Stone (sadly I blame Aloha for it) and think that Ryan Gosling is an off/on actor. The film evoked feelings in me. I actually cried at the end. Despite the fact that Emma Stone can't dance and really was not that suited to the role in my opinion (yes I know she got an Oscar), I felt for the film. It isn't something I'll be eager to watch again but that viewing was really good.

Death Sentence
Death Sentence surprised me with its director. I like James Wan films and didn't even know he directed this. Otherwise I'd have watched it long ago. Anyway it shows how a grieving white collar executive's desire to avenge his son's murder caused even more pain and suffering. It is a good film, acted nicely too.

The Casual Vacancy
The Casual Vacancy made me regret not having read it earlier (preferably when it came out) since I loved it. It is strange to love Harry Potter novels but staying away anything else from the same author. Thank God I had the good sense to read the first Cormoran Strike novel (again Rowling writing as Robert Gailbraith) - actually I got it in audible- The Cuckoo's Calling and I liked it so much so that I have finished the rest of the novels and suffering from withdrawal, I have finally given this a try. It is a great novel and I actually cried in the end. Definitely a keeper and I wish she'd write more of these.
Line of Duty (3 Seasons)
Line of Duty I became aware of this little gem through an interview with the lead actress at Graham Norton Show. I watched the first episode out of curiosity and was immediately hooked. It is great acting and a bombastic plot. All three seasons were interconnected and I loved the characters and the writing and the dynamic directing. Great show. I'll look forward to more seasons.

Since We Fell
Since We Fell I have actually finished this before Exile and thought that I put it here but realised I had not. Anyway there are some writers who are sure things as far as I'm concerned and Mr. Lehane is one of them. And because of my audible membership I was able to read his latest as soon as it came out and for the fraction of the cost. Anyway it is not as good as Mystic River but still I was definitely entertained. And now that I have been to Boston it was even more interesting to know the places mentioned in the book. I loved that part of it.
Ses

Ses Mehmet Günsür oynadığı için izlediğim, derli toplu, gayet eli yüzü düzgün bir korku/gerilim filmi.
Eyvah Eyvah 2

Harmonium (Fuchi Ni Tatsu)
Harmonium turned out to be an interesting drama and it was not a casualty to fasting.

Dear White People
Dear White People turned out to be interesting, however as entertaining and relevant as it is I didn't laugh very much. It felt somehow too real and this is probably what the film makers intended.
