The Unhoneymooners

The Unhoneymooners turned out to be very entertaining, frothy and made good reading. I like that the couple's problems are not miscommunication. Hardly any erotica and I liked it just the way it was.

Nerve  well I loved it. The tidy prose and a sensible character. Despite not being interested in horse racing, this novel made me have a good time.

To All The Boys I've Loved Before

To All The Boys I've Loved Before  well I think I'm too old for this film. The only thing I liked was the main character's bedroom's walls.

W  this one I have watched 13 episodes and simply stopped because despite starting very strong with an original story, it went bonkers after the ninth episode or so. However right after Romance Is a Bonus Book, I was recommended this (they share the same actor and one actress playing secondary characters in both dramas). The last three episodes were not any better. And I turned cold towards HHJ after these. Anyway, at least it is finished now.

Sex And The City 2

Sex and The City 2  well I watched it and forgot about it yet again. And I have a suspicion that Netflix censored this (the scene in  the hookah cafe with Samantha and the Danish guy) for what reason I don't have a clue. Anyway this is not a good film, even for the fans.

Romance Is A Bonus Book

Romance Is A Bonus Book  is one of the progressive dramas in which we get to see women struggling with the patriarchy, in a society where even women can sometimes be unkind to other women. It is rather romantic but I just could not get into the romance of the main couple. And it is for a very unfair reason, the lead actress is married to Won Bin (and I'm not even that much of a fan, although I like the actor). And no matter what she goes through or how intense the romantic moments were, I kept thinking "she is married to Won Bin, she is married to Won Bin) and I just could not get that out of my head. Again very unfair to a talented actress and a very good performance. The male lead is to me a wonder. He is a decent actor, handsome I suppose but a bit too plastic for my taste and I don't feel anything for him at all, but this guy is a master of kissing scenes. His on screen kissing is so lovely and just the style I like. So in the end I loved this, how can I not? I love reading and this is all about books and publishing. But the sentence "she is married to Won Bin" is still rotating in my mind.

Three Act Tragedy

Three Act Tragedy is not the best of the Poirot series. I think it may be my least favorite. Not only Poirot is not in it that much but also killer's plan did not make any sense to me, at all.

Brothers In Arms Love Under Siege

Brothers In Arms Love Under Siege is very good. It is all about consenting adults. It was kind of wholesome. Recommended if you like some emotion with your erotica.

Criminal

Criminal  well, Karin Slaughter always delivers and this was perfect as far as I'm concerned. Please note that it is best if you read the series in order.

Also there is a bonus short story in this edition and I loved it too (even cried at the end)

An Easy Girl

An Easy Girl  this one was surprisingly nuanced and it treated its lead character very well. I like this sort of film where the protagonist encounters a different, dangerous (in this case socially and economically) world and comes out of there all the wiser.

Dream High

Dream High is a decent high school show. It has good actors and one of them became a TV superstar later on in real life.

Beast

Beast  well I saved this one since the story seemed interesting but I was not expecting to like it so much. First there is that certain type of cinematography and art direction that I like (no clutter), second the acting was phenomenal from both leads but especially the female lead, third the story kept changing lanes and kept me guessing. I loved it. An unexpected gem as far as I'm concerned.

Ghost Stories

Ghost Stories is alright. Nothing that special but does the job for sure. I fell asleep during and had to rewind but this is normal horror film viewing behaviour for me. I did that during Halloween (twice) and still had not finished that one.

If It Bleeds

If It Bleeds  well it is Stephen King so no disappointment from me. My two favorites were Mr. Harrigan's phone and The Rat.

A Rouge By Any Other Name

A Rouge By Any Other Name  is entertaining, a bit long and the conflict is not really authentic but other than that I enjoyed it, the intimate scenes were very nicely done too.

The Only Child

The Only Child turned out to be a decent thriller. It is not spectacular or anything but I will recommend if you enjoy the genre.

Another Miss Oh

Another Miss Oh well well well. I liked this much better than I thought I would. I don't really care for the male lead nor the male secondary leads. But the female lead Seo Hyon Jin always delivers. And she looks really natural which I love. This one ended up being a smart rom com with a plot that would normally turn me off (slightly involving time travel) but I loved the lead characters, especially the female lead who is smart and quickly understands and asseses the situations she is involved in (I'm very gullible so I admire people who understands the machinations of the people around them). Oh we have suffered through a whole episode of self sacrifice but thank God it did not last longer than that. Recommended.

Once

Once  well, this felt like a male romance novel with a bit of horror/fantasy thrown in. There is decently written erotica but male romances (where the hero is a regular guy but women fall for him) are not good as the female ones and the description of the fairy is disturbingly close to what I hope the author did not intend. I liked the writing but this one is not essential reading.

The Untamed

The Untamed   yes, I have watched it again and liked it just as well, maybe even better. This is perfect. Every aspect of it is perfect. I really want to be like Lan Zhan but unfortunately I'm more of a Wei Ying. And I really could use a lifelong confidant as Lan Zhan. Kudos to these two actors.

I love this so much that I do not even want to watch making of videos etc. Thanks to everyone involved in it (sure they will not see it but I wanted to express it anyway)

Cult X

Cult X has very good intentions I suppose. However it hammers it hammers these on to the reader,
scattering some erotica and hentai in between. Good intentions do not make a good novel and the erotica parts are the written form of what you can find on any related site. Sadly this one, I do not recommend.

For Desire Alone

For Desire Alone included more erotica than I was expecting. However nothing in it blew me away. It was decent pass time though.

Laidlaw

Laidlaw is a good novel. It is character oriented and has aged well. Recommended if you like Ian Rankin (however be warned not as good as Rebus)

You Are All Surrounded

You Are All Surrounded well it was a silly show. Turned into self conscious makjang at about half way point. But the actors are all the ones I like so I finished it.

Dirty John

Dirty John  well I ended up liking this a lot more than I thought I would. First off Connie Britton is excellent. This lady is a very good actress and it was a delight to watch a woman without any enhancements. Eric Bana does pyscho villains well and he was very good too. And all in all it was interesting to watch the story unfold. And the ending was very satisfying.

The Invisible Man

The Invisible Man is a good film with some plot holes but very watchable. I like Elisabeth Moss (regardless of her spiritual beliefs) and she is very good in this. I also like it that they cast her since she does not look like a plastic barbie doll. She looks like a real woman and I think it hugely helped the film.

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle

The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle put me through a some reading dilemma. It is obviously a good novel but this time knowing nothing about it except it being a mystery did not work for my benefit. I do not really enjoy time travel and it is a big part of the plot. This one is actually a sci fi, so know that going in. It is a very good book (too good to dnf so I read it to the end) it just was not for me.

No Country For Old Men

No County For Old Men is a great novel. I love this author. And now that I read the novel, I see that the film adaptation is very good too.

Basic Instinct

Basic Instinct I liked it a lot better in this third viewing. A very good villain and a shady protagonist. I like this director's close up shots and loved how Sharon Stone is styled. I enjoyed it a lot despite knowing what will happen.

Raat Akeli Hai

Raat Akeli Hai is an alright film. I liked the mystery aspect and the actors were all fine. I didn't love it or anything but had a decent enough time.
