 Kara Muska   İlk sayfalarda pek seveceğimi düşünmedim ama sonradan acayip sardı. Kısa, öz ve son damlasına kadar güzel. Türü sevenlere rahatlıkla öneririm.

Hostiles  well, this is a film which you can see won't be good right away, but still there is something about it and you hang in there until the end and yes, it is still not very good. I like the actors and the cinematography though so it was not a total loss. And Ben Foster, amazing actor with a great performance yet again. 

Tears     lots and lots, yep all my buttons were duly pressed and I cried a lot.

What's Your Number?   ok this is maybe my fourth viewing and I still like this one. 

The Proposal (novel)

 

The Proposal    well I loved it (I just ignored the silly cover). It felt just the right thing at the right time. Mary Balogh has a certain style and if you love it then you'll love this one too. Also it is a good one to give it a try whether you are going to like the rest of her novels or not.  

Tears:  Oh yes, an unexpected amount and all in a good way. 

He's All That

He's All That   well it is similar to the original and I though that was ok but nothing special. I think the same for this remake. 

You (Series) S1 & S2

You   S1 and S2   well I liked the novel but not enough to seek the sequel. The first season is very nicely adapted, kudos. I don't know how the second season compares to the novel but I saw the twist coming long before I should have. It is still entertaining though and I have not felt sorry for the lead character even once. 

Never Have I Ever S2

Never Have I Ever S2 is just as good as season 1 and I really enjoyed it. 

Tears  a surprisingly large amount of them. 

Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning

Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning is as good as the rest of the films. I like this story and both the anime and live action films. 

Beckett

Beckett is surprisingly good despite the inadequacy of its lead. This actor is handsome and charismatic but can not act. The film on the other hand is engaging and suspenseful. 

Soul Keeper

 

Soul Keeper This is something I rarely do but there was something about this book that did not sit right with me. And I can not find the right words to name it. There is seemingly nothing wrong with it. World building etc. are all there, a variety of characters, some inclusion of LGBTQ+ all look good on paper. But for some reason all seemed manufactured somehow. Oh I just could not get into it and it was one of the few times my being unable to dnf worked against me.

The White Lotus  was entertaining and engaging to watch. I worked in the hotel industry and I love Hawaii. But I felt like white man winning at the end kind of left a sour taste in my mouth. 

Glitz

 

Glitz   This one was just not for me. It is a good book nevertheless. So there isn't any reason for me not to like it. It is unknown to me sometimes why some novels work for a particular reader and some don't. I highly appreciated it but I wish I liked it better. 

Kim's Convenience

Kim's Convenience  this one worked for me. Diversity celebrated and I want to move to Canada now. 

Pieces of Her

 

Pieces of Her may be my least favorite Karin Slaughter novel but still it is a lot better than many many other ones of the same genre.

Ashes of Time Redux

Ashes of Time Redux   I like this film and not because it is the characters' imagined back stories from one of my favorite novels but because it is a visual and musical and acting feast to my eyes. The only actor I do not care for in the cast is Tony Leung Kar Fai (for no apparent reason) other than that I really like every actor and their performances are so good. Also this is not really a wuxia film, more like an existentialist art film where people suffer from mainly romantic betrayal - only one main character gets to be happy romantically-. It is also an erotic film but not in an explicit way. It sure is not for every one but works for me each time I watch it and I love the soundtrack (it is very 80s)

The Dead Don't Die   well I seem to remember that this film is not very popular but I liked it. It probably helped that I love Adam Driver and like Bill Murray a lot. 

Fallen Angels

Fallen Angels is probably my least favorite WKW film. I like it fine enough, in comparison to many other films but a certain lack of feeling or something I can not name causes me to like this a lot less than his other work (he is my all time favorite director). Well at least we have Takeshi Kaneshiro looking like a tiger (the man is simply perfect looking) and acting like an alley cat you want to adopt. 

Also there are a few nods to Chunking Express which makes this one even more lacking in comparison. 

In the Name of The Family

 

In The Name of The Family    ok I purchased this twice by mistake on on line sales (one in audiobook and one as paperback)  and it did not work for me at all. Nothing wrong with it except it felt kind of dry and did not focus on either the characters or the action, anyway I wish I loved it but I did not. 

Audible version was a bit better (but for some reason they chose to read the dialogues with an Italian accent and I do not like this practice of giving an accent to speakers unless they are speaking English originally) 

Happy Together

Happy Together     it has been some years that I have seen this film and it felt so good to re-watch. It is usually presented as a story of a couple but in this viewing I felt it more as an emotional journey of the main character (contrary to popular opinion I think he is a dislikable character, prone to physical and emotional violence) and Tony Leung is simply excellent in the role. He is a great actor and very likable (those soulful eyes) on screen and in real life (yes, thank God I have actually met and spoken to him for more than an hour and he is amazing). Yet this character with all his flaws come alive in him and I'm amazed at his versatility and talent  (especially since I watched this after Chungking Express in which his performance leans to comedic)

The Girl From Nowhere S1 and S2

The Girl From Nowhere  This has an interesting concept and it is pretty bloody but for some reason, it put me sleep almost all the time (I think I stayed awake during only 3 episodes - not in order) Some series have this effect on me (the other example is Criminal Minds I could not finish one episode without sleeping). Of course I rewind and watch what I missed but still... 

Gilded Needles

Gilded Needles I liked it well enough but I think I would have enjoyed it better if I had read the written version. The reader performance is very good although for some reason, this text felt like it should be read rather than listened to if possible. 

One Good Turn

 One Good Turn    oh I loved it. It was exciting, interesting and funny (in a good way). I can recommend to everyone regardless of their preferred genre. This one is good for all. 

Blood Red Sky

Blood Red Sky     I really liked this one. Very good acting and it was both scary and emotional. It reminded me a bit of Train to Busan (but less intense)

Tears   yes, even during a horror film viewing, tears were shed. 

Major Grom: Plague Doctor

Major Grom: Plague Doctor   It is an ok film, I fell asleep twice (once rewound and the other time did not since it was just explosions) 

Little Fires Everywhere (series)

Little Fires Everywhere   I liked this adaptation a lot. There is something about good acting that makes a mediocre (ish) script worth watching. I liked the cinematography and the art direction. I think this may be on par with the novel.

Charlie's Angels (2000)

The Ruins

The Ruins    I read the novels years ago but it remained with me. And I think I saw the film too but I do not really remembered much and it was ok. It is body horror done nicely. 

My Shy Boss

My Shy Boss   this one is bad and none of the actors were anyone whose presence would make me stick with it. However for some reason I did not give up on it and was even entertained by it. 

Tears    yes, even to this, tears fell. 

Evil Eye

 Evil Eye I really liked this one. Short but sweet with a nice story telling gimmick that worked for me just fine. And the voice actors all did very well. Recommended. 

Defending Jacob

 

Defending Jacob  It is a good book and a good reading performance. However for some reason it did not work for me. It may easily work for you though and you get the sense of whether or not from the first chapter so give it a try.

The story was interesting and I want to watch the show now.

 Legend  it is a very good novel if you are into sword/axe etc. action fantasy.

There is one part where a character hits a woman and they later reconcile. Ugh!
