Eye In the Sky

Eye In The Sky This film really surprised me. It is a small film telling an event that happened in less than half a day. It was really very good and in fact I was crying hard towards the end. Give this one a try.

Kill Bill Volume 2 It just doesn't get old. Every time I watch it I enjoy it even more. I like this one better than Volume 1.

Monster vs. Aliens

Monsters vs. Aliens was alright. It was not spectacular or anything but I enjoyed it well enough.
The Gift

The Gift is a film I have long wanted to watch. Despite Jason Bateman (I never got to like that guy) since I do like Rebecca Hall and Joel Edgerton. It turned out to be very good film with an unexpected twist.

Tacones Lejanos (High Heels)
High Heels is not among the well liked films of Almodovar and I can see why now that I have watched it a second time. The cop character is just not believable and disturbs the mother and daughter dynamic of the story. I think it would have been great if he were removed and his story is told at a different film. I loved the music though and I was interested and liked the film more than many others I have watched (though not from Almodovar)
Un Giorno Perfetto (A Perfect Day)
Un Giorno Perfetto was like a kick in the gut. I didn't expect this from Mr. Ozpetek. Huge spoilers coming up now.
It turns out that the happy family in the cover is all a lie. They are divorced and he is stalking her. We understand that he has physcological problems but he looks so together and properly reformed that we almost wish that she listens to him. But it is not adultery he is guilty of, he beat her and then all good wishes are off. She is a great mother despite being low on education and income. She is pretty but not really the flirty sort. Anyway there is small boy who is bullied at school and a teen girl who is about to fall in love. The man works as a body guard for a powerful politician (he has a side story but I was not interested in that story at all) so he is Police and is not easy to remove from one's life. She doesn't want to turn him into a villain in the eyes of his children and we can see that he is trying to be a good father.
But he takes the kids and kills them. Yes even the little boy with the lazy eye. And as we realise that the girl is not dead yet I started to cry in earnest. Man what a deal that woman was dealt with. I hope that the girl lives.

Sharp Ends
Sharp Ends I probably will read anything from this author. These stories are interesting, funny, bloody and action filled. I recommend to read them after one reading the First Law novels though since I think the stories will be more precious that way. One can see different points of view to past events we know the outcome and I liked it a lot. The new characters Jevre and Shev are both great and I wouldn't mind reading a novel about those two or either one.
Fingersmith
Fingersmith was even better than I hoped it would be. A fantastic novel, a page turner and great prose that reaches to the heart and grabs it right off the page. In fact I liked it so much so that I'm currently being unfair to the novel I'm reading. The characters, the situations, the mood. I'm a firm fan of Sarah Waters now and will seek out more of her novels.
Haemu

Haemu is a film I was not that eager to watch but it was there and I thought why not? So I gave it a shot and it was not really bad but nothing new either and the charactarisation was a bit off. Yeah people have the potential to become savages in certain conditions but some of these in the film were kind of extreme. All in all I have watched it to the end and that's something.
Hero of Ages
The Hero of Ages was looong long long and it was not as interesting as the first novel (The Mistborn) but better than the second one (The Well of Ascension). All in all I got kind of teary eyed in the end but not really as emotional as I was during the first two of the Stormlight Archives novels. Anyway SPOILERS!!!!!
I kind of knew that Sazed would be the hero of ages (more likely due to the narration to be fair) and the two main characters in the book have died sort of horrible deaths (one a decapitation). But in the end they didn't die in vain and the world became beautiful again. I don't plan on reading any other Sanderson novels for some time.

Legend
Legend tells the story of twin gangsters. And apparently they were ruthless and not a little crazy. Here the story is a slice of life told by the wife of one of the brothers. It is not a very good film but I was interested and Tom Hardy is very good as both of the twins.

Year of The Dragon

Year of The Dragon was not really that good. Most probably because it was cut. I do like Mickey Rourke of that era though. He was such an attractive actor. I wonder if plastic surgery is harmful for an actor (mimics etc.)unless he or she plays someone with botched plastic surgery of course.
Jaws

Jaws is an excellent film that didn't age and still very exciting.
I actually have been at a shark cage and seen many Galapagos sharks (which are much smaller than the great white) and was so scared that I actually couldn't move. It was the scariest thing for me and the film was even more effective after that experience. And I love Richard Dreyfuss.
